The world speaks to all of us in many ways, and in it we find both majestic beauty and humble artistry. Through accurate detail and vivid color, I hope to offer tribute to all of the subjects depicted in this artwork and to the unique story that each can tell.
The colored pencil drawings presented here were created with those stories in mind and have offered something special to the people who now display them. About the Artist
Mike Fredericks has been involved in the fire service for over 33 years as both a volunteer and career firefighter. He has held the positions of volunteer Training Officer, Career Shift Captain on both Engine and Truck companies, USAR Rescue Technician for Iowa Task Force 1, Honor Guard member, Fire Service Instructor, retiring in 2015 as the Chief of Training for the Cedar Rapids (IA) Fire Department. He recently retired from the volunteer fire service as well in January of 2020.
Mike is still active in the emergency services as a member of the Iowa All-Hazards Incident Management Team.
He and his wife Katie reside on an acreage in rural Iowa where they raised their five children, including the designer of this site.
